Life Education
I sat in on a class participating in the Bundaberg Life Education program, the program that visits many schools in the Bundaberg and District area to educate the young on healthy living. I saw first-hand how important this program is and how enthusiastically the children respond.I grew up in a generation that missed out on any education programs such as Life Education, but admittedly I also grew up in a more innocent society.Local governments have recognised the importance of Life Education in the younger generations and are funding the valuable drug prevention education resource which should be funded by the state government.Unfortunately, funding ($1.4 million over three years) was cut to Life Education Centres in 1999, and three centres in Queensland have since closed down. I am committed to seeing that the state government once again funds this vital program because our children deserve a positive healthy start to life.Thank you Kathy Bayliss for inviting me to attend one of your vibrant Life Education lessons. You and your colleagues are doing a fantastic job! Life Education does drug proof our kids.
